Carrier-certified Industrial Cell Modems

Introduction

Zoom’s carrier-certified cell modems provide reliable wireless connectivity between your equipment and any Internet-connected equipment you choose. Because the modems are carrier certified, you can benefit from low-cost service plans from AT&T®, T-Mobile®, and other carriers.

These modems help get your product to market fast, with an already certified modem that helps assure the success of your product. There’s no need to worry about complicated RF designs or an expensive, time consuming, and risky certification process when you choose a ZoomCell modem for your system design.

Carrier-certified Modems

Zoom’s cell modem line includes cased and uncased USB and Multi-IO modems, and range from 2G and 3G to LTE speeds. They are certified by AT&T, PTCRB, FCC and a nationally recognized safety lab. (Carrier approvals vary by model.) They provide:

  • Quick development and deployment for new connected solutions
  • Fast time to market
  • Small, flexible design for integration into many systems
  • Low cost
  • Multiple Input/Output interfaces include: DE-9 serial port, Micro USB 2.0 port, and a 30-pin header for optional connection to a motherboard
  • Micro-SIM connector with tamper-resistant latch
  • Well designed, flexible on-board power supply
  • Superior antenna design

M2M Services

The cost of M2M plans depends heavily on the amount of data used each month and the number of modems deployed. If many modems are used and each modem sends less than 1 MB of data a month, each cellular data connection can cost only a few dollars per month. M2M service providers will assist in identifying the right plan for a specific application.

Integrators can simply use a SIM available from your local AT&T or T-Mobile store for a few modems. But those plans provide more data for each modem than most M2M applications require and are significantly more expensive. Most M2M applications use less than 100 MB of data a month and many of them use less than 5 MB a month.

In addition to low cost, many M2M service plans have powerful management features for groups of connected devices. Those management features are not available with a SIM from carrier stores.
